Commandos graduate seven players

The Maritime Junior A Hockey League provides great opportunities and the Commandos are proving it again.

Each season, the Dieppe Commandos Hockey Club has the ultimate goal of giving our young hockey players a chance to graduate to the next level and they’ve accomplish that once again. Six members of the 2008-2009 Commandos roster has moved up the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and one to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Ryan Stoddard (Dalhousie University), Willie Harvey (Saint Mary’s University), Murdock MacLellan (Acadia University), Christopher Rodrigue (Université de Moncton), Pier-Alexandre Poulin (Université de Moncton) and Mathieu LeBlanc (Université de Moncton) are graduating to the CIS after a successful Junior A season. All of them played a major role in the success of the Commandos at the 2009 Fred Page Cup.

Rookie of the year in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, Wendell Vye made his way up the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats. The Moncton native had an excellent season with the Commandos and caught the attention of many recruiters. He currently has a great start of the 2009-2010 regular season with the Wildcats.

“We are very proud of all our players. The Commandos organization is community oriented and we hope to see more of our players graduate to the next level of the game. We have lots of good young hockey players on our team this year and the future looks good. I hope our fans are enjoying the talent and the effort from our local team,” said Jean-Francois Damphousse, director of operations for the Commandos.
